Overview
Barings is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its ABF (Asset-Backed Finance) team, with a dedicated focus on cash flow modeling and analytics. The individual will be responsible for building, maintaining, and overseeing cash-flow and performance models for private consumer and commercial ABS transactions, while supporting ongoing portfolio surveillance and risk monitoring. The individual will support investment evaluation and structuring and work closely with investment professionals, risk partners, and internal stakeholders to build and maintain robust cash flow models, evaluate risk under various scenarios, and deliver clear, decision-ready analyses.
Key Responsibilities
• Build, maintain, and enhance cash flow models for consumer and commercial asset finance transactions.
• Develop, document, and validate key modeling assumptions including prepayments, defaults, losses, recoveries, seasoning, and fees.
• Perform scenario, sensitivity, and stress analyses to assess structural resilience and expected returns.
• Support screening, underwriting, and approval of new investments through high-quality modeling outputs and exhibits.
• Analyze historical collateral performance data, stratifications, and vintage trends as part of diligence efforts.
• Prepare clear written summaries and exhibits for internal approval and investment committee processes.
• Refresh models for existing investments and monitor performance versus underwritten expectations.
• Identify emerging risks, assumption drift, and performance trends across the portfolio.
• Contribute to the standardization of modeling templates, documentation, and controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners including risk, operations, finance, legal, and technology.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 3-5 years of buy-side experience in asset-backed finance, structured credit, or specialty finance is preferred.
• Strong Excel-based financial modeling skills with a disciplined and well-structured approach.
• Experience analyzing complex financial data and communicating results to senior stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Intex (or similar platforms) and Bloomberg tools.
• Familiarity with consumer and/or commercial credit performance analytics is a plus.
• Programming or data skills (e.g., Python, SQL, R, VBA) are beneficial but not required.

Base Salary Range: $120,000- $150,000 plus additional incentives
